Jameson's Wattle-eye

A tiny flycatcher-like bird with a bright eye wattle, found in the forest understorey.

Jameson's Wattle-eye is a small, active bird of the forest interior, recognised by the colourful wattle around its eye. It is one of the specialities that draw birders to western Kenya.

Tips for finding it

Watch for movement in the mid-storey and listen for its call with your guide.

Forest birds are often heard long before they are seen. A guide who knows the calls is the single best investment you can make.
