Kakamega Forest is home to several primate species, including Black-and-white Colobus, Red-tailed Monkey and Blue Monkey. Troops are often active in the morning around Isecheno and can be followed quietly with a guide.
The forest is also famous for its butterflies — hundreds of species have been recorded here. Warm, sunny clearings and streamsides are the best places to see them.
